Samson’s fine 86 off 46 ended in dramatic circumstances when Shai Hope hit long on, just millimeters from the boundary line off Mukesh Kumar.Hope appeared to make the catch, and several replays supported that claim, but a different perspective questioned the legitimacy of the catch.

Despite this uncertainty, the third referee finally trusted the first two replays and announced Samson. The RR captain seemed displeased with the hasty decision, but temporarily headed for the dugout.

However, he reversed course and returned to argue with the judges.”Simson committed a Grade 1 offense under Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He admitted his guilt and accepted the match referee’s punishment,” the BCCI/IPL statement said..
